Your first website starts with one clear purpose

A website is easier to build when you know what it needs to achieve. Start with one sentence: “This website helps [these people] to [take this next step].”
Choose a useful next step
For a service business, that might be an enquiry. For a creative professional, it might be viewing a portfolio. Make the action specific enough that you can give it a clear label.
Plan a small set of pages
Start with a homepage that introduces your work, a page explaining your services, a short about page and a way to contact you. Add pages when there is a real question for them to answer.
Gather your content first
Write down the questions customers ask. Collect photos you have permission to use. Turn your answers into short sections with descriptive headings.
Check it on a phone
Read every page on a small screen. Can you understand the offer, read the text comfortably and find the next step? Those three checks are a useful starting point.
